![]() There has been an in-game overlay in Uplay for a number of years now, and we learned that it’s the best way for players to interact with content it’s directly in-game, it’s accessible with a click at the moment you need it, they don’t have to leave the game and break the immersion, and they also have quick access to key elements they want to see directly. We’ve completely revamped the loyalty system to meet the kind of expectations players have and the kind of games we make today.ĬH: One of the key changes in the experience is a new in-game overlay that will appear across platforms. What we’re making now is different to what we were making 10 years ago, players expect bigger, more packed experiences and want more diversity in the activities and challenges they are given. The big change in that experience is based on what we learned from those rewards, as well as how our games have evolved in that time. The Ubisoft Club reward and loyalty program has always been at the heart of the system, and we’ve been rewarding all of our players with exclusive content for the last 10 years. SP: Over the years we have tested and implemented various features, sometimes only on single platforms. ![]() What were some of the key things that were learned from the launching Uplay that have been integrated into Ubisoft Connect? The idea is that the overlay is a foundation for future features, it’s just the beginning and provides a basis for new and great features we can add to support our players and keep improving and enhancing their experience. It really allows people to stay connected to their Ubisoft friends across platforms and games and help them in this transitional period where friends might be using different hardware. There is also a new activity feed where people can see everything they and their friends have achieved recently, and that’s fully cross-platform too, so those can be seen no matter where a player is accessing it from. We’ve been testing it on mobile for the last two years and we’ve had some great feedback, so we’re happy to bring that across the whole Ubisoft Connect system and to all of our players. It gives personalized tips, stats and videos to help players improve or overcome a difficult challenge or quest, and it’s really based on your personal gameplay stats and playstyle, it’s really helpful. We’re also bringing several new features, including our Smart Intel system, which people may already know from using our AI gaming assistant SAM in our mobile app. It brings that fast access to everything players need to support their gaming. What are the key benefits of the new system for players?ĬH: The new overlay is a really big benefit, the fact that it will be the same across platforms is a key aspect of the experience. The evolution is that it will be a transversal, unified experience for players across all of our games and all platforms, including the existing PC, mobile and web experiences. Stephanie Perotti: We’re also building on what we learned in creating the Ubisoft Club and Uplay, and more than merging them together this is also an extension of those services. We want to provide a more consistent experience across multiple platforms, so we’ve created this new ecosystem to bring our players together across multiple screens and devices. We sat down with Stephanie Perotti (VP of Online Services) and Charles Huteau (Creative Director on Ubisoft Connect) to talk about the new features, the reason for the change and what players can expect from the new cross-platform hub for player services.Ĭharles Huteau: It’s a new merge between Uplay, our current PC client, and the Ubisoft Club rewards system. An evolution and expansion of the Uplay and Ubisoft Club services that was unveiled today, Ubisoft Connect is the new Ubisoft gaming hub which introduces a host of cross-platform features, such as full cross-progression on highly anticipated titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Riders Republic, new social events and challenges for PC, console, or streaming devices alike, and much more. ![]() A new generation of gaming devices means whole new ways to play, and Ubisoft is ready to level up players’ experience with Ubisoft Connect.

![]() ![]() I believe is one of the more popular backup programs, I like it at least. be prepared to buy a new drive the moment one fails or you send it back for warranty. only people with niche uses get other stuff.Ī good mindset is, this is for data retention. that way there is a good chance the same drives didn't come from the same manufacturing process for the day again, mitigating the risk that they could become duds.Īlso, just get seagate barracudas or WD blues. what you could also do, instead of buying from the same retailer, buy from another but the same brand. now the likelihood that your drives will fail at the same time is minimal, but it's always a good idea to just have a mix. i personally recommend that option since 2 different mediums is a pain in the ass or expensive (ssds, blu-rays, tape). > so what your saying is get one HDD u/4TB of one manufacturer, and a second HDD u/4TB with another manufacturer just to be sure I don't get " off the line " defects? You can automate it but i don't like doing that since there are sometimes i'm doing maintenance and i don't want the other drive to write all files when i know i'm gonna delete them. so any changes to any file, it will overwrite or add it to the specified directory stated. i basically mirror my primary backup drive to my secondary drive. if you're not tech saavy or frankly just want mirrored backups, you don't really need RAID.įree OOS and will compare directories stated in wherever you want. I mirror my drives because it's the easiest way to do it and i don't need anything more. Seems like a chore to set up, but doable. Some mods store settings in their own local files (for example vrik keeps your gestures and holster information) so again those files need to be synced (not a problem if you use synchronizing software), or just never change any mod settings. In addition to copying your MO2 folder (with your wabbajack install) you would have to copy some files to skyrim vr folder, things like SKSEVR and 3D sound. ![]() I use FreeFileSync ( ), but I don't think it supports onedrive.įor saves you can use steam cloud saves if you disable MO2 profile specific saves, or sync your MO2 folder with onedrive after each gaming session (with profile specific saves enabled). I know this could be done with google drive.Īlternatively you could look into file syncing software. After you finish plying wait for onedrive to sync files to it's servers. I don't use onedrive but maybe you can keep your MO2 folder on onedrive, before playing make it accessible offline (force onedrive to download files to cloud computer), then start MO2 from onedrive. To complete setup, restart your system. So each time you have to install steam, VD, Skyrim vr and copy wabbajack? To install it, run the following in a terminal: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flatpak/stable With older Ubuntu versions, the official Flatpak PPA is the recommended way to install Flatpak. To install Flatpak on Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) or later, simply run: $ sudo apt install flatpak ![]() ![]() Audio DAC should also work using GPIO DACs e.g. What I can confirm is that audio is working very well via bluetooth headsets, but it doesn’t work for me via the 3.5mm audio jack of the Raspberry Pi 4.Īccording to the developer, audio should work via HDMI, the 3.5mm audio jack, and Bluetooth. I don’t have a touchscreen, so I cannot confirm that it’s working. What also works is support for touchscreens with multi-touch, including USB touchscreens and Waveshare SPI touchscreens. The developer is still working on enabling hardware video decoding and encoding, but for now you’ll have to settle with hardware accelerated graphics (V3D, OpenGL and Vulkan), as well as software decoding and encoding. Web browsing works well too, and you can even play YouTube videos, but not in HD or FullHD formats, yet. Of course, you can even enable a dark mode, which looks really cool. Swiping up on the home screen will reveal all installed apps (Files, Calculator, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Recorder, Gallery, Music, Browser, Camera), including the Settings app, from where you can set up your entire Android OS. In short, performance. Matt Nawrocki takes a look at an optimized web browser that may not be as optimized as advertised. With the recent news about Google’s switch to the Blink engine and Mozilla experimenting with a multi-core optimized Firefox engine called Servo, there is quite a bit of change on the horizon for under-the-hood technologies that power the browsers we love. ![]() We have browser choices in addition to the standard fare of Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, and Chrome. On a higher level, however, there are projects that are considered offshoots of open source mainline browsers like Firefox and Chrome that apply their own twists and special sauce, all the while keeping a major bulk of the engine underneath mostly the same. Pale Moonįor instance, a browser I reviewed in April of 2012 called Waterfox is a special 64-bit Windows optimized build of Firefox which is said to improve upon performance and efficiency. Today, we look at competing project called Pale Moon, which is another Firefox derivative.Īlthough the goals and objectives of Pale Moon are quite similar to an offshoot like Waterfox, developer priorities for features beyond core functionality are different. #PALE MOON STANDARD WINDOWS#įor example, where Waterfox caters solely to 64-bit operating systems, Pale Moon provides optimized builds for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows as well as axing unnecessary extras, such as accessibility and parental control capabilities. Pale Moon is developed to take advantage of newer processors in a very significant manner. If you are still stuck on a pokey Pentium III or other SSE-only x86 processor, Pale Moon will not run and that’s a sign that you are due for a hardware upgrade. In such an event, your only recourse is the standard version of Firefox, albeit suffering any potential optimizations that could make your browsing experience, faster, more powerful and elegant. When you install and run Pale Moon for the first time, the user interface strongly resembles that of regular Firefox, with the only superficial difference being a blue-centered theme for the UI. Under that seemingly copy-cat façade lurks a tweaked Gecko engine that, according to the author’s website, will render pages up to 30% percent faster than regular Firefox. |
